Programme Overview
The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies qualification is to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the operations and structure of businesses. Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills required to succeed in employment or further studies. OTHM Qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).
Programme Details
To successfully complete the programme, students must earn 60 credits at Level 3, distributed across 6 units.

Entry Requirements
A learner willing to study OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies qualification must possess the following entry requirements:
• Learners should be aged 16 and over.
• Learners admitted to the programme must have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.
• Learners should undertake Initial and Diagnostic assessment held by the College.
• Our Recognition of Prior Learning policy means that students’ previous learning and experience can be considered, and they may be awarded certain qualifications or units of a qualification based on that learning or experience.
English Language Requirements
Applicants applying for all our qualifications, which are taught and assessed entirely in English, need English language skills.
Non-native English speakers who have not carried out their final two years of schooling in English should demonstrate ability at a standard equivalent to:

English will also be assessed through a written statement and interview.

Applicants must have basic ICT skills, including:

Application and Selection Process:
Stage 1: Submission of Application Form
Submit online form with all required documents
- Admission team invites applicant for an informal interview within 2 working days.
Stage 2: Submission of Personal Statement
- 350-400-word typed statement in applicant’s own words (MS Word format)
No images or copied content
Submit at least 1 working day before the formal interview
Stage 3: Interview Stage
- Tests an applicant’s spoken English competency, reading skills and ability to hold a technical conversation
- The interview assesses applicant’s intent to study.
Stage 4: Basic IT and Mathematics Test
- An online basic IT test is held to demonstrate required IT skills.
- For certain courses, an applicant might be asked to complete a Mathematics test.
Stage 5: Offer
- Prospective students who succeed in the interview and the test(s), receive unconditional offers of places onto the course.
- The admissions team will inform all successful applicants about the times and arrangements for induction, enrolment and registration.
Career progression
Successful completion of Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies qualification enables learners directly entry into Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 4 Diplomas. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies and consider for direct entry into a range of their bachelor’s degree programmes.
